Yaser Abrar is an Afghan journalist and media leader with more than thirteen years of experience in political journalism, public affairs, and independent media leadership. He is the Founder and Director General of Deeyar TV, an independent media outlet operating in exile, and the Founder and President of the Deeyar Media Association, based in France.

Abrar is widely known for his role at TOLOnews, Afghanistan’s largest and most influential news organization. During his tenure, he moderated major political programs and nationally significant debates, and conducted in-depth interviews with senior officials, diplomats, and international figures—shaping some of the most consequential public conversations in the country’s recent history.

Alongside his media career, he has founded and led civic initiatives dedicated to peace, democracy, and public engagement, including the Peace and Democracy House (PDH) and the Afghanistan Peace Foundation (APF), advancing journalism as a vital link between society, governance, and accountability.

His academic background is in International Relations and Diplomacy, which has informed his analytical approach to political reporting and his sustained engagement with issues of governance, human rights, and international affairs.

Abrar’s contributions to journalism and public life have been recognized through numerous national and international honors. He continues to work and publish from Europe, remaining closely engaged with Afghan audiences at home and abroad.
